The Chautauqua Safety Village (CSV) provides comprehensive life safety programs for youth and adults in our community.  Its purpose is to make our communities safer through education. A wide range of experiential safety training and services are provided that promote the well-being of our community members.

Seasonal Educator

15-25 Hours Per Week

Timeline: April – June 28, 2024

Starting pay: $18.00/hour

We seek a fun and engaging seasonal educator to join our team! This position is responsible for instruction of Safety Village classes at our facility during our busiest season. All education is presented in an engaging and interactive way. Once core concepts are taught, all participants practice what they learned through hands-on activities.

This is a temporary position and paid training is provided as well as a supportive, fun, and rewarding work environment!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implement fire safety, first aid and bike safety programs to school aged youth.  Lessons are designed to improve knowledge about safety topics and decrease unintentional injuries.
  • Deliver hands-on training and activities using interactive educational tools and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Set up / clean up classrooms and Safety Village equipment for programs.
  • Help to develop and deliver periodic day camps for the community.
  • Clerical duties and reporting.
  • Assist with other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred, professional experience in youth education required.
  • Educator must have the ability to deliver training in an enthusiastic manner as well as maintain classroom control.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak effectively before groups supplemented by strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to flex work schedule to accommodate educational programming needs.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and handle several responsibilities well.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in computer skills and web based platforms.
  • Must be able to exert light to moderate physical effort, at times involving bending, kneeling, crouching, standing, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to moderate weight (5-20 pounds). Some lessons require outdoor activities, where potential exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur.
